CGI Corporate/Industry Visit

As part of our academic curriculum, our department organized an industrial visit to CGI. The objective of the visit was to gain practical exposure to corporate work culture, understand industry expectations, and explore real-world applications of technology in a professional environment. Upon arrival at the company premises, we were issued visitor ID cards and directed to a seminar hall where the sessions were conducted.

 

 

Leadership Session:

The visit began with an engaging leadership talk. The speaker welcomed us warmly and created an energetic and motivating atmosphere.

Key points discussed:

• Overview of CGI as a global IT consulting company
• Company presence across Europe, Asia, and other regions
• Organizational structure and division of operations
• Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives
• Explanation of Intellectual Property and its importance in the corporate sector

Two members coordinated and assisted during the session. We learned how leadership drives technological transformation and encourages innovation within the organization.

 

Interactive Session with Industry Experts:

Mr. Amit Mishra provided valuable insights into how projects are executed in real-time industry environments. He explained the complete company workflow, highlighting how different teams coordinate and collaborate to ensure smooth project delivery. The session also covered internship opportunities, eligibility criteria, and the essential skills expected from students aspiring to join the organization. He emphasized the importance of technical proficiency, communication skills, and teamwork in a professional setting. The session was highly interactive, and all queries were addressed clearly and professionally, making it both informative and engaging.

 

          

 

Inspirational Experience Sharing Session:

A senior professional, Ms. Praneeta, shared her personal career journey. She spoke about her educational background in Chartered Accountancy and the challenges she faced during her career transition. She emphasized the importance of self-belief and confidence in achieving success. When asked about common mistakes students make, she highlighted the need for self-introspection. She stressed the importance of patience and tolerance during difficult phases and encouraged students to stay committed to their long-term goals. Her session was deeply motivational and inspired us to remain persistent and focused on our career journey.

 

AI and Technology Session:

Another expert conducted a session on Artificial Intelligence and enterprise-level AI products. The discussion included:

• AI-based solutions used in companies
• How AI products function in solving business problems
• Real-world implementation of automation tools
• Demonstration videos explaining AI product workflows

The session provided clarity on how AI is integrated into corporate systems.

 

Volunteer and Employee Experience Sharing:

During a short delay between sessions, a volunteer named Arun Kumar interacted with us and explained the company culture, internal events, and work-life balance initiatives. Another speaker from a Mechanical Engineering background shared his inspiring journey of completing online courses and continuously developing his skills, which helped him secure a position at CGI. This session highlighted that consistent effort and determination matter more than one's academic background.

 

Office Floor Visit:

After lunch, we were taken on a guided tour from the ground floor to the third floor. During this visit, we observed:

• Project-based team structures
• Collaborative workspaces
• Professional working environment
• QR-based seat and meeting room booking system for efficient space management
• Modern office ambience with refreshment and open collaboration areas

 

Wrap-Up Session:

The visit concluded with a wrap-up session where students shared their takeaways. I expressed my interest in applying for internships and mentioned that I would be happy to join CGI in the future. We were informed that internship applications can be submitted through the official CGI Careers portal. The session ended with group photographs, and we returned to our college with valuable knowledge and memorable experiences.

 

Conclusion:

The industrial visit to CGI was highly informative and inspiring. It provided practical insights into corporate functioning, AI implementation in business operations, and effective career growth strategies in the IT industry. The sessions emphasized patience, confidence, and continuous learning for long-term professional success. Overall, the visit helped us understand industry expectations and motivated us to strengthen both technical and personal skills to become industry-ready professionals.
